A new Danish study which is the largest of its kind has found the MMR vaccine does not increase the risk of autism

Scientists found, however, that "MMR vaccination does not increase the risk for autism [and] does not trigger autism in susceptible children".

A major new study out of Denmark demonstrates, yet again, that the measles, mumps, and rubella (or, MMR) vaccine, is not associated with an increased risk of developing autism, even "among kids who are at high risk because they have a sibling with the disorder". Of those, 6,517 were diagnosed with autism.

However, those skeptics who acknowledge the scientific fraud in the original Andrew Wakefield study have still insisted that the MMR vaccination might be responsible for autism.

LakeShow Takes: Lakers hit rock-bottom with loss at Phoenix
Well we are down the line and the narrative is clear even though many other media outlets do not want to admit it. They followed Friday's hard-fought loss to Milwaukee with a disappointing 118-109 defeat in Phoenix on Saturday.

The researchers also found no increased risk among subgroups of children who might be unusually susceptible to autism, such as those with a brother or sister with the disorder. Children with autistic siblings were seven times more likely to receive their own autism diagnosis, boys were more likely to be diagnosed than girls, and - perhaps most shocking of all - "children who had no childhood vaccinations were 17 percent more likely to be diagnosed with autism than kids who did get recommended vaccinations". The US now is dealing with outbreaks of diseases like measles that had once been thought eradicated within the country.

The study's first author, epidemiologist Anders Hviid of the Staten Serum Institute in Copenhagen, added in an email: "MMR does not cause autism". Their study followed child births in Denmark from 1999 to December 31, 2010, and then followed up with the children from 1 year old until the study was completed in 2013.

The Centers for Disease Control and many others have long noted there's no proven link between vaccines and autism, and now the agency has yet another study to back those claims. However, researchers found that there was no overall increased risk of autism among those who received the vaccine verses those who did not.

Groups on social media have spread false messages linking vaccines to autism - and as a result, rates of measles have risen, experts have said. Not a single study afterward ever corroborated Wakefield's hypothesis at all, and by the time Lancet finally withdrew the study's publication twelve years later, the British medical community had concluded that Wakefield was a fraud.

"MMR does not cause autism", Hviid told NPR.

Measles can be avoided through vaccination, and 90 percent of Danish kids are every year, but in other nations fewer people are being vaccinated and the trajectory is on a downward spiral.
