Beijing reaffirms earlier stance: China blocks India at UNSC

Calls for boycott and hiking tariffs on Chinese goods not a solution

Pakistan-based Jaish-e-Mohammed chief Masood Azhar meets the criteria to be designated as a "global terrorist" by the United Nations and China's opposition to the move counters a mutual interest in achieving regional stability and peace, the USA has said. The Lashkar-e-Tayyaba chief, Hafiz Saeed, and his deputy, Zaki-ur-Rahman Lakhvi were both placed on the lost after the November 2008 terrorist attacks in Mumbai.

On the issue of listing Azhar, he said, "I want to say that China always adopts a responsible attitude, engage in consultations with various parties and properly deal with this issue".

The UNSC had moved the resolution just days after the Pulwama terrorist attack in which India blamed the JeM chief of masterminding the attack.

"We are grateful for the efforts of the Member States who moved the designation proposal and the unprecedented number of all other Security Council members as well as non-members who joined as co-sponsors", added the statement.

Nancy Pelosi: President Donald Trump 'not worth' impeaching
Raskin added, "There have, of course, been cases when impeachment investigations have been unifying, as with Richard Nixon". So, too, has Judiciary Chairman Jerrold Nadler of NY , whose panel has jurisdiction to conduct impeachment proceedings.

India has expressed disappointment over China's decision but said it will "pursue all available avenues" to bring to justice terrorist leaders involved in attack on Indians.

ANI reported about India's ministry of external affairs response that stated, "We are disappointed by this outcome".

China has twice blocked attempts, in 2016 and 2017, to impose sanctions on the JeM leader. The terror outfit had claimed responsibility for the February 14 Pulwama attack in Jammu and Kashmir in which 40 security personnel were killed. There were high level visits to India including by the Chinese defence and foreign ministers as part of the efforts to mend ties.

In the wake of the February 14 terror attack in Pulwama, India launched a major diplomatic offensive against Islamabad, holding briefing for envoys of 25 countries, including from the five permanent UNSC members - the United States, China, Russia, the United Kingdom and France - to highlight Pakistan's role in using terrorism as an instrument of state policy.

Confirmed Case of Measles in Collin County
One child with measles walking through a school will pretty much infect every other susceptible person in that school. I hate reading an article about a kid dying from measles all because that child did not have his or her vaccinations.

He leads the JeM, which has been designated by the United Nations as a terrorist organisation and "has been responsible for numerous terrorist attacks and is a threat to regional stability and peace", Palladino said during a news briefing in Washington.

Lu said the Chinese position on Masood Azhar was delinked from the immediacy of the Wednesday's vote at the 1267 committee of the UNSC. Germany pledged to be a co-sponsor to the proposal late on Wednesday. However, signs from Beijing over the last two weeks had not shown any sign that it would change its mind.

Pakistan's Foreign Office also issued a statement on Monday which said that Mr Qureshi informed Mr Bolton that the Indian aggression of Feb 26 was a violation of Pakistan's territorial integrity and sovereignty as well as the UN Charter. "Therefore, China is cautious to take the stand", Lu Yang, south Asia expert at Tsinghua University, said. In December 2001, Jaish fighters, along with members of another Pakistan-based militant group, Lashkar-e-Taiba, attacked India's parliament, which nearly led to a fourth war between the two countries.
