Confirmed Case of Measles in Collin County

Jefferson County reporting first case of measles
Jefferson County residents are expressing concerns about vaccinations now that a confirmed case of measles has been reported in the county.
Measles is a highly contagious respiratory illness spread by contact with an infected person through coughing and sneezing, Texas DSHS says. People are infectious from five days before the onset of the rash until five days after the rash appears.
As per the CDC, which is the Center for Disease Control and Prevention, one dose of one particular vaccine called as the MMR vaccine is said to be nearly 93% effective and if two doses are taken, then the effectiveness is increased by nearly 4% thus making it nearly 97% effective, which is incredible.
Centers for Disease Control (CDC) of the United States recommends routine childhood immunization and the MMR vaccine for students at post-high school educational institutions without evidence of measles immunity, people who are born during or after 1957 who do not have evidence of immunity against measles, and global travelers.
Janak Peris, 44, dairy worker: "Maybe teach the public to avoid the people who got it, and contain those who have it inside their houses". "Remind people to vaccinate even if they are over 18". "Those aged between 29 and 50 will only have had one measles vaccination and are not considered immune".
The four-year-old MMR could be brought forward to no sooner than four weeks after the previous MMR.
Vaccine supplies have run out in the affected region and tens of thousands of extra supplies are being flown in from around the country, as doctors use their last stocks to vaccinate those most in need of protection, including young babies and those with other health issues. I hate reading an article about a kid dying from measles all because that child did not have his or her vaccinations.
One child with measles walking through a school will pretty much infect every other susceptible person in that school.
Anyone with measles symptoms or who believes they may have been exposed, can contact their usual general practice 24/7 for additional advice.
