Beto O'Rourke Joins Democratic Presidential Field

The enthusiasm generated by former three-term Rep. Beto O'Rourke may seem reminiscent of another politician who had only spent a few years in Congress before running for the White House — President Barack Obama

The former Texas congressman sent a text message to TV station KTSM on Wednesday afternoon confirming the news that he will seek the Democratic presidential nomination.

Thursday morning's announcement will leave former Vice President Joe Biden as the last big name yet to make a decision about the 2020 campaign.

The Democratic field features the most diverse set of candidates to run for president in American history.

The first of the state-by-state nominating contests will be in February 2019.

"Middle schools are one of the fastest-growing markets for marijuana sales today", O'Rourke said Thursday at a campaign event in Iowa.

The trip will serve as the first test of whether O'Rourke can carry to the national political stage the pop-star appeal he showed in Texas a year ago, drawing enthusiastic crowds and $80 million in campaign donations.

When the Des Moines Register/CNN/Mediacom poll was first run in December, O'Rourke placed third, the top choice of 11 percent.

O'Rourke, a 46-year-old former three-term USA representative from West Texas, made the announcement online.

Along with the official poster, Disney/Marvel released the first full trailer to Avengers: Endgame , which hits theaters April 26. Will they be tasked with confronting Thanos while the rest of the Avengers head into the Quantum Realm?

With his presidential effort, O'Rourke is hoping to leverage the fame he gained with his Senate race. He visited with students in the key swing state of Wisconsin. O'Rourke accused Trump of stoking "false fear" about immigrants.

Party liberals have zeroed in on O'Rourke's refusal while in the U.S. House of Representatives to co-sponsor legislation providing "Medicare-for-all" and free college tuition, although during his Senate campaign O'Rourke promoted the idea of universal healthcare.

"I'm really proud of what El Paso did and what El Paso represents", O'Rourke said in the text.

"Amy and I are happy to share with you that I'm running to serve you as the next president of the United States of America", O'Rourke said in a video announcing his candidacy.
