Earlier, Mohammad Isam - a reporter associated with ESPN Cricinfo - had written on Twitter that the "Bangladesh team [he is assigned to] escaped from a mosque near Hagley Park where there were active shooters".
Several minutes after they were barred from getting off the bus, the players escaped and ran through Hagley Park.
Shootings were reported at the Al Noor Mosque, the Linwood Masjid mosque and Christchurch Hospital.
Two police officers have confirmed that the bomb is inside a beige Subaru that has crashed on the street, roughly three kilometres from the Al Noor Mosque where the shooting took place.
Mr Bush said, "a serious and evolving situation was occurring in Christchurch with an active shooter".
