Former Texas congressman Beto O'Rourke will launch his 2020 presidential bid on Thursday, ending months of speculation about whether he would join the sprawling field of Democrats vying for the chance to run against President Donald Trump.

Beto O'Rourke is jumping into the race for president, he told an El Paso TV station in a text message Wednesday. "I do. I think I'd be good at it".

The former US representative, who lost to Republican incumbent Ted Cruz in Texas' 2018 Senate race, released a video announcing his candidacy hours before starting a three-day tour across Iowa.

Trump took more note of O'Rourke's gyrations than his policy plans.

He has also promised an investigation into Guaido for "alleged involvement in the sabotage of the Venezuelan electricity system". Secretary of State Mike Pompeo confirmed the last remaining American diplomats have left the country.

Asked in Burlington how he'd contrast himself with other presidential hopefuls, O'Rourke said that he wasn't sure but that he'd never been afraid to work with congressional Republicans.

"The reason why I think I'm the best candidate for the presidency is very different than his", New York Sen.

They include several U.S. senators: Elizabeth Warren, Kamala Harris, Cory Booker, Kirsten Gillibrand, Amy Klobuchar, and the leader among the current candidates, liberal powerhouse Bernie Sanders. He lost his only tilt at the Senate to one of the most divisive Republicans in America, Ted Cruz.

But instead of wearing the Philadelphia Eagles' midnight green, he'll be wearing the blue of the New York Giants . It's unclear if those moves take them out of the running for Tate. "My years are limited", Tate said at the time.

In a recent interview with Vanity Fair, O'Rourke said he was "just born to be in" the presidential race.

According to a Breitbart story posted on February 12, 2019, O'Rourke claims the "Green New Deal" was the "best proposal that I've seen" - ignoring its $93 trillion price tag.

Klobuchar was not the only 2020 candidate to welcome O'Rourke on Thursday.

"This is a defining moment of truth for this country and for every single one of us", O'Rourke said seated alongside his wife Amy.
