According to The Australian, "New Zealand's High Commissioner to Australia, Annette King, also rejected Senator Anning's remarks and declared it was up to Australian voters as to whether he remained in federal parliament after the May election".

The footage showed Anning being watched eagerly by the young man, before he gets his phone out, starts filming, and smashes the egg.

Anning immediately turned back and struck the boy on his face before continuing to fight with him. A 28-year-old Australian-born man is now in police custody.

A spokesperson from Victoria Police said the teen was apprehended and released.

New Zealand shooting: Australian Senator Fraser Anning's statement utterly contemptible and illogical, says Azmin Ali

A teenage protester has egged the Australian senator under fire for his recent statement lashing out at Muslim immigration as a reason behind Friday's mass shooting in New Zealand.

In the wake of Friday's white supremacist Christchurch attack, which left 49 people dead at two mosques, Mr Anning tweeted: "Does anyone still dispute the link between Muslim immigration and violence?"

"The remarks by Senator Fraser Anning blaming the murderous attacks by a violent, right-wing, extremist terrorist in New Zealand on immigration are disgusting", said Mr Morrison hours after addressing the media on the attack.

Although Senator Fraser Anning called the New Zealand mosque shootings an "unfortunate tragedy", he appeared to double down on his earlier statements.
