A school spokesman said the tower was off limits to students, "always locked" and that they were looking into whether the lock had been tampered with. "He told me some seniors (wanted to go) to the tower to take some pictures and have a good time before graduating".

A United States university student has died after she fell more than 12 metres from a campus bell tower in the early hours of Sunday morning.

A student, named only as Dave, who met Sydney and her friends hours before the tragedy, said: "My roommate was with them".

According to USA media reports, Ms Monfries slipped on her way up the tower's spiral staircase and was found by emergency services at about 3.17am.

Trump says Boeing should fix Max jets, then rename them
Last week, Southwest Airlines made a similar move and United Airlines has also cancelled 737 Max 8 flights until June. Two days after the plane went down, he tweeted that these days jetliners are "becoming far too complex to fly".

"I heard they were just getting a better view of the city", one senior student said.

Fordham's president said in an email to the university community that Monfries would be awarded a posthumous bachelor's degree.

Christopher Rodgers, dean of students at Rose Hill, told The Ram in 2013 that since "the clock tower is rather unsafe, and therefore secured area of campus, students would likely face disciplinary action if they entered it".

Students said climbing the tower, touching the bell and taking photos of the sweeping views, were part of a senior-year "rite of passage", according to the paper. She fell 40 feet through the inside of the tower and struck her head on the ground.

Trump sanctuary city idea could help migrants stay in U.S.
HHS has traditionally been responsible for providing temporary shelter to unaccompanied migrant children crossing the border. He said that he was under audit and didn't intend to turn anything over until that process had been completed.

University officials said Monfries died after losing her footing and falling some 30 feet onto a landing below. Sydney, as she wrote on her social media sites, was studying journalism and interned at InStyle magazine.

She was taken to St. Barnabas Hospital in serious condition.

According to the university's website, Fordham University is a Jesuit, Catholic institution focused on instilling students with "wisdom, experience, morality, critical thinking and creative problem-solving".

White House: Sending migrants to sanctuary cities not a top choice
Then the president claimed that she does not actually want the detained immigrants to be released into her city. The letter marks the latest in a yearslong effort by Democrats to get access to Trump's financial documents.
