Russell Wilson contract: What happens with no new contract from Seattle Seahawks?
16 April 2019, 08:55 | Henrietta Morgan
AP Russell Wilson played with Saquon Barkley at the Pro Bowl earlier this year. Will they be Giants teammates soon
Russell Wilson and his agent Mark Rodgers say they won't sign a long-term contract with the Seattle Seahawks if it's not agreed to by the end of Monday, according to a source.
While the midnight deadline is imposing, ESPN reported that both sides still are working hard to reach some sort of agreement.
According to reports from several National Football League insiders, Wilson is not seeking a specific salary number, but a percentage of the team's salary cap. After that extension, Wilson said he would have tabled contract talks and played out the final year of his rookie contract had the two sides not met the deadline. The Seattle Seahawks did not cave to the demands of the Super Bowl-winning quarterback and there is no contract extension in place.
Not pictured anywhere was defensive lineman Frank Clark, whose status also remained in question as he has yet to sign a franchise tag that would pay him $17.1 million this season while the two sides try to work out a long-term deal.
The eighth-year quarterback previously set a deadline for his last extension in 2015, but it wasn't until the beginning of training camp.
Many of them have indicated that Russell Wilson wants to be the highest-paid quarterback in the NFL. A significant amount of guaranteed money. So in terms of age, it makes some sense to acquire Wilson.
But the Seahawks had to weigh how much to pay Wilson while also knowing they have decisions coming on Clark as well as Reed and middle linebacker Bobby Wagner.
Denver's offensive line has improved over the last couple of seasons, but with new additions, I would consider it a red flag, especially if Wilson is a Bronco. The only ERFA who did not sign his deal Monday was receiver David Moore.

Sam Amick of The Athletic was the first to report the deal, and NBC Sports California confirmed the details with a league source. Prior to his stint with the Lakers, Walton had been an assistant to Golden State Warriors coach Steve Kerr from 2014 to 2016.
