The UCP won 63 of Alberta's 87 seats - a gain of 38 - while Rachel Notley's NDP dropped from 52 to 24.

To the rest of Canada, the United Conservative leader says his government will stand up for Alberta.

United Conservative Party (UCP) leader Jason Kenney reacts at his provincial election night headquarters in Calgary, Alberta, Canada April 16, 2019.

The one-time federal politician, who was one of the most prominent ministers serving under former Conservative prime minister Stephen Harper, came to Alberta to unite fractured right-leaning political parties. They also back measures to prop up Alberta's energy industry, which struggled previous year with record discounts on Canadian crude because of pipeline congestion.

"A Kenney-Trudeau showdown over energy and climate policy raises a number of significant risks for investors, as further delays, lawsuits and federal-provincial negotiations will make final resolution of key policy issues and project approvals harder to achieve", the Eurasia report said.

For his part, Trudeau tweeted congratulations to Kenney and said he was "looking forward to working together to create jobs & tackle the issues that matter most to Albertans - and all Canadians". "It's safe to say I'm not as much voting Kenney in as voting Notley out", said geologist Ty Pfeifer, 61.

Easter Egg Hunt set for Logoly State Park
Sabourin added each age group also received one purple egg to open with a card inside saying, "winner". Vail: The Vail Craft Beer Classic Hunt kicks off Saturday, April 20, throughout Vail.

"It ended a 44-year dynastic political climate that you have in Alberta", said Sally Hausser.

Prime Minister Justin Trudeau was asked in Kitchener, Ont., whether he was concerned about his climate plan should Kenney win.

Throughout his campaign, Kenney said his first order of business would be to introduce the Carbon Tax Repeal Act.

She said Kenney's promise to challenge Trudeau in court on everything from the carbon tax to proposed energy industry rule changes was cynical, self-defeating shadow-boxing given the collaborative realities of political decision-making.

Many Albertans, too, are increasingly unnerved by the province's growing ocean of red ink and angry at the federal government and the provinces of Quebec and British Columbia for grievances including pipeline obstructionism, perceived unfairness in federal spending and seeming indifference for Alberta's troubles.

Ontario Premier Doug Ford, whose province is one of three challenging the federal carbon tax, told reporters Tuesday that he hopes Kenney wins the election.

Fox News Laughs At Nipsey Hussle
After showing a section of "FDT", the giggling Fox News host said the song had "a very creative refrain". Ingraham has also sparred with David Hogg , the Parkland survivor turned anti-gun activist.

The Alberta premier-designate's stance on the carbon tax means the four premiers now against the program will have another ally in their fight against Ottawa. "I really believe deeply this is the party of the future in this province when people get away from this polarization and start looking at ideas, and what our party and our province can do", he said.

Moe echoed that sentiment with his own congratulatory tweet to Kenney on Tuesday.

Eggen said the NDP will now hold the government to account.

Alberta will have a new premier. A battle is shaping up between Alberta and its neighbour to the west over the controversial Trans Mountain pipeline expansion, which would allow Alberta to ship diluted bitumen to the coast of British Columbia.

Mr Kenney campaigned as a champion of the oil sector, promising to fund a "war room" to defend Canada's energy resources at home and overseas.
