Almost six years on from Michael Schumacher's horrific skiing accident, his wife and father are set to open up on camera for the first time.

The first official feature documentary about Formula One racing legend Michael Schumacher is in the final stages of production, with award-winning German filmmakers Michael Wech and Hanns-Bruno Kammertöns directing.

Details of his personal life have been carefully guarded since a skiing accident in the French Alps in 2013, when he sustained a head injury that left him paralysed and unable to speak.

The film will "explore the many facets of this complex man - the merciless Formula One driver, the ambitious boy with the dream, the down-to-earth mechanic, the dependable team player, and the devoted friend and father".
