The parents of a drunken driver who died in a vehicle crash previous year are suing Tiger Woods. "[They] ignored Immesberger's disease, they fueled it by over-serving him alcohol to the point of severe intoxication and then sending him out to his auto to drive home". Woods is being sued along with his girlfriend, Erica Herman, and his Woods Jupiter corporation that runs The Woods restaurant in Jupiter, Florida, by the parents of Nicholas F. Immesberger, who died on December 10, 2018 in a drunk-driving crash.

Woods' girlfriend Erica Herman, along with employees at The Woods, are also named in the suit. The suit also claims that Woods and Herman had direct knowledge of Immesberger's problem with alcohol and that they were drinking with him "a few nights before the fatal crash". And it says the restaurant's employees, managers and owners allowed the 24-year-old man to be over-served even though they knew he was an alcoholic.

Woods expressed his sorrow over Immesberger's death in response to a question about the lawsuit at a news conference ahead of the 101st PGA Championship, the year's second major golf tournament which starts on Thursday at Bethpage Black on Long Island in NY. "He continued, "A awful ending and just we feel bad for him and his entire family".

Immesberger's family claims that he struggled with alcoholism and that Woods and Herman knew him personally.

Immesberger was reportedly drinking at the restaurant for three hours after finishing his shift that day, and then drove himself home in his 1999 Chevrolet Corvette. It is unclear whether Woods or Herman were at the restaurant on December 10 after they had returned home from a trip to Australia on the night of December 7. He claimed, however, that Woods was aware of Immesberger's addiction to alcohol. "It was a bad night, a awful ending".

This was not Immesberger's only incident with alcohol at The Woods Jupiter. "Despite this, the employees and management at The Woods continued to serve Immesberger alcohol while he was working as well as after work, while he sat at the bar".
